JadCare :: The home of the Joomla Adsense and YPN advert logging system

This document shows exactly how to install the JadCare Joomla component, step-by-step with screenshots.  I have Joomla 1.0.11 installed in the root path of my server.

If you wish to see any of the images in this document more clearly, simply right-click on them and save-target-As and you can save them in their original size.

Step 1: Login to your Joomla Administrator account

• Simply go to http://www.YOUR-DOMAIN.com/administrator 
• Enter your details and then click "Login"

Step 2: Go to the Components Installers menu

• Hover over "Installers" then click "Components"

Step 3: Click "Bowse" and navigate to the download of JadCare

• Click Browse
• In the dialog box, like the one below, navigate through your system to find the download of the JadCare component.
• Select the component and click "Open"

Step 4: Click "Upload File & Install" to start the installation

Step 5: If the installation was successful, you will see this info screen

• Highlight the part that starts <script langua ... until </script> and press Ctrl-C to copy this to memory, you will need this in a step 8.

Step 6: Edit your Template file by going to Template Manager > Site Templates

Step 7: Select your active template and click "Edit HTML"

Step 8: At the end of the file, you need to add the appropriate JavaScript Code

• Scroll to the end of the code
• Add the code like below, this can be pasted in from step 5 - Ctrl-V can be used to paste the code in

• It is best when it is placed just before the </body> line, as below
• Make sure there is only one / before the urchin.php name,
  • /urchin.php is OK
  • //urchin.php is NOT OK

Step 9: After the code is pasted in, save the template file by clicking "Save"

Step 10: Go to Components > JadCare in Joomla

Step 11: Setup the database connection for JadCare

• When the JadCare report page loads, there is a link at the top left of the page called "Database Config" - Click this once

Step 12: After clicking Database Config, the following form will appear

• Complete the form exactly and correctly, you should probably use copy-and-paste to ensure accuracy of the data
• The data you need can be found in the configuration.php file which is in the main directory of Joomla, also in your Database config page at your hosting company, especially if they use CPanel.
• When you have entered all data you click the Install button and the tool will attempt to connect to the database and prove the accuracy of your information provided.

Step 13: After clicking Install AND if the data was correct, you should get a confirmation to prove a correct installation.

• You also have a second chance to grab the JavaScript code to paste into your template if you have not already done so. Again make sure that you have the part /urchin.php in the code and not //urchin.php as some users have reported.

Step 14: Go to the main page of your site and click Refresh

Step 15: Go back to the JadCare component in the Administrator page and also refresh the page

See the stats? If yes, then you have successfully installed the tool

If not, then it may take a time for the tool to register the data into an external database, no more than a minute or two.

Done!! We now have a working JadCare installation which is now catching advert statistics in Joomla!
